If there’s anything I would like for you to keep in mind in the coming year, it would be these wise words from one of my favorites: “When you have bacon in your mouth, it doesn’t matter who’s President.” -Louis C.K. It’s a good point by a funny, smart man. Also, it reminds me that despite the incredible amount of whining about who is in charge, or who is obstructing who is in charge, we as Americans have it incredibly easy when it comes to taking our health into our own hands. We all have the option to eat whatever food we make a priority to have, workout when and how we choose, Jazzercise anyone? If that’s your thing, do it, vegetarian, I don’t care, I disagree, but I don’t care. My point is that the only thing stopping you from attaining any of your goals is you. In a lot of other places, that wouldn’t be the case. We have an abundance of everything, and I think self control is the only way to show respect and actually benefit from that abundance.

This was proven with the famous “Marshmallow test”, albeit accidentally. Thank you Wikipedia for this acceptable summation:
The Stanford marshmallow experiment[1] was a series of studies on delayed gratification in the late 1960s and early 1970s led by psychologist Walter Mischel, then a professor at Stanford University. In these studies, a child was offered a choice between one small reward provided immediately or two small rewards if they waited for a short period, approximately 15 minutes, during which the tester left the room and then returned. (The reward was sometimes a marshmallow, but often a cookie or a pretzel.) In follow-up studies, the researchers found that children who were able to wait longer for the preferred rewards tended to have better life outcomes, as measured by SAT scores,[2] educational attainment,[3] body mass index (BMI),[4] and other life measures.[5]
Let’s not start judging our progress or lack thereof on our 2015 goals on Jan 17. If you believe in your goals, have a support team to get there, then stay the course. Your progress lies just past where you’re sure you can’t go. I can not tell you how many weeks where I thought we could not make all the food on time, the workouts that I was sure I could not finish and the progress I did not see possible when we started. But it was up on my goal board, we didn’t throw our hands up in despair during those weeks, I managed through the workouts and we have traversed every stumbling block along the way, thank goodness there’s no style points in life though.
We at Pete’s Paleo want nothing more than for you to achieve your goals, and we aim to help make that possible. Eliminating shopping, cooking and planning a farm to table diet from your schedule is a pretty amazing service when you have made whole, real food a priority in your life. Thanks in advance for letting us help you, your family and friends make 2015 kick ass, because no matter what, at least they’ll have some Pete’s Paleo bacon to put in their mouth. Happy New Year.
"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."
